For me, literary translation is a meeting of languages, voices, and worlds. My journey with languages began in 2008, when I started my university studies, and they have been an integral part of my life ever since. I discovered my passion for literary translation during my fourth year at university, when I took part in a literary translation competition and experienced firsthand just how creative and rewarding it can be to carry a story from one language into another.
Since then, I have approached every text as a new opportunity to explore language, uncover its subtleties, and further develop my knowledge and skills. I believe in lifelong learning and continually seek ways to broaden my horizons, both as a translator and as a reader.
I approach every project with respect for the author’s voice and a keen eye for detail, striving to preserve the original’s style, rhythm, and atmosphere without compromising the natural flow of the Greek language. I believe that a good translation goes beyond faithfully conveying the source text. It calls for sensitivity, creativity, and careful attention to word choice, allowing the translation to stand as a literary work in its own right.
My goal is to preserve the magic and individuality of every story, evoke the emotions the author intended, and carry readers into its world with the same power, as though it had been written in their language from the very beginning.
